What can I do about what’s happening in Gaza?
That’s been one of the biggest questions on my mind lately.
I’ve been keeping up only with the news about Palestine.
There’s been a lot of information shared through social media.
I’ve been absorbing some of it, but what I think is going on right now is a complete human rights crisis.
People are being starved, the safe places they’re supposed to flee to are bombed, and all these people are trapped. Children are starving — I saw one video of a girl whose ribs were completely exposed because of how hungry she’s been.
I don’t make much money as a library assistant. I barely have enough to get by. But what I’m thinking I’ll try to do is eventually get a better, higher-paying job where I can monetarily support causes that help the people in Gaza.
I feel so helpless sometimes looking at all this, though. It’s a dire situation, even if it’s not affecting my everyday life.
I think the next step would be to contact politicians and people who can enact change. I hate feeling like I can’t do anything about it.
