As I’ve grown older, the number of people I call a friend has slowly declined since my school days.

I’ve started to reach out to people I connect with more, though.

Sometimes it’s through shared hobbies.

Other times, we share the same faith.

And still others, we know we have each other’s backs when the going gets tough.

I guess it’s not just a friend for a season, reason, or lifetime.

It’s for different occasions. You’ll draw different people to you based on the energy you project.

And I’m so happy I’ve started to click with certain people. I really want to nurture those reciprocated relationships.

I’ve really been putting myself out there recently to befriend people. It doesn’t always work the way I want it to, but I’m infinitely grateful to the people who respond positively.

Navigating friendship as an adult is fraught with difficulties. Scheduling and timing play key factors. But I think the people who respond well to your bids for connection, who show up for you again and again — those are the friends to keep.
