Life, Measured in Little Moments
Honestly, life’s been a little tough lately. Lots of expectations and responsibilities related to school and job searching. But sometimes, there are moments where it feels like a breath of fresh air.
Recently, I organized an intern dinner, just so we could get to know each other better and hang out. It was also my chance to give Lianna a farewell gift before she heads to Maryland. Our conversation was rich with laughter and storytelling, and time sped past me.
I live for those moments when everything seems suspended in time. One of the quotes from my Buddhism study group recently was that “Life is measured from breath to breath.” That’s something I’ve really thought deeply about, how it’s the accumulation of all these little moments that make up how we experience life.
Impermanence is the way of the world. No matter what state you’re in, it too shall pass. And so that’s comforted me in thinking of how the busyness of everyday life will, too, pass soon enough.
After I graduate, I’m off to Taiwan and Japan on a trip to see my grandparents and take my dad to Tokyo for the first time.
Then it’ll be the ALA convention. And who knows where I’ll be after that! I’m excited to see where life takes me. This love for life in spite of its difficulties has been hard-earned, and I’m so grateful and blessed to be where I am today.
Life is a rare miracle, after all, and I hope anyone reading this feels equally blessed and grateful for the little things in life.
