Freelancing is not my style
I once dreamed about working out of coffee shops and libraries, refining my craft every day until I went viral.
I wouldn’t have to show up to work or answer to anyone besides fulfilling the needs of my clients.
I could work my own hours, work when I felt like it.
It seemed idyllic, almost.
Only until I realized it really wasn’t feasible for me.
I tried working on Fiverr and got a handful of jobs.
One of them was to write over 100,000 words for $150.
Suffice to say, I didn’t take that job on.
I know there are plenty of articles out there about how to make money off writing, but I guess I’m not serious enough about it to sacrifice my stable sources of income.
This is something I do on the side, not my main thing. If I were to quit my job just to write, I’d be terrified. It’d be too much of a risk. I wouldn’t know what to do, where to go, who to work with. I’d be stranded in the middle of the ocean again, with no sight of land.
Right now, one of my biggest dreams is to land a 9–5 job where I don’t have to work overtime or bring work home. It’s a simple dream, not one with the allure of…
