Do you still believe in romantic love?
Because I’m not sure I do anymore.
This isn’t another one of my angsty posts: it’s something I’m genuinely questioning nowadays.
The love that’s strongest, that lasts the longest seems to be familial and platonic love.
After watching this one episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine where Amy Santiago said the spark between her boyfriend and her died made me wonder what made love last.
The sparks of infatuation don’t usually last long. For some, it fades after a few weeks. For some, it fades after years.
Chasing that honeymoon phase — that high — won’t last.
But how much do you compromise? How much do you try and adjust your own life decisions and make them around someone else? How much do you give, how much do you take?
I don’t know anymore, to be entirely honest. Some people say when you know you’ve met the right person, everything falls into place. But I’m skeptical of all that — there are bound to be tough calls to make, tough positions where negotiating is difficult.
I guess if you do love someone, you’ll try to make it work somehow, regardless of life’s many obstacles.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous of all the people getting engaged or having babies…
