December: my self-care month
Finding peace in everyday moments
Right now, I’m sipping a hot lemon tea while listening to music and writing.
I just spent the last half hour petting Kira and reading The Last Thing He Told Me. I finished The Midnight Library and The Poet X in the past week. After finally finishing/returning my library books, I’ve had time to read the books I bought a year or two ago.
It’s been an amazing few days. Mom’s back home now, too, so I’m happy about that.
A third of the month is almost over. It’s going by too fast. Because come January, all my responsibilities will return.
I can’t afford to go on vacation right now, though ideally, this would be the best time of year to take one. I just don’t have enough cash to do so, so I’m trying to take “mini-vacations” through moments at home. Doing things I love with people I love. Curling up with the cat and a book in hand. Crocheting love into every stitch for my family. Organizing hangouts and video chats, signing up for volunteering so I can pack gifts for families in need, and so much more.
I haven’t made a point to focus on my own well-being for a while. And it feels so, so good. I’m taking a break from therapy because my stressors have gone down to virtually none, and I had a psychiatrist appointment today…
